Kesha and I are BFF Continued!

Whether your high school is / was awesome or not, there are few things more fun than emotionally awkward young people. I can't speak for you (I will certainly try, though), but the combination of hormones, pimples and unwarranted self-weight makes teens some of the most comical little things ever. To think that there are RPG downloads for this! Two wonderful chums named Dana Lodico and Josh Noe agree with me and have created a delicious piece of game goodness called Virtua School. I'm not thinking about you when I say that this is one of my favorite text-based PC RPG games of all time.

Premise

Virtua School places you, yes you, in the act. To think that the newly captured games have the nerve to call themselves engulfing when they don't even let you use your own name! Although it is possible that all the events in Virtua School happened to you, the odds are that you must use your imagination a bit, especially if you are a heterosexual woman. Your day starts in the morning (waking up late as always) and you already have to make a big decision: take a shower or take the bus on time. The horror!

From there you meet several hilariously miserable teens during the day, from your friend Bob to a gay man named Leon. The purpose of the game is to balance your ratings, popularity and wealth as well as to achieve various honorable mentions. Aside from its humor, Virtua School beats all other PC RPG games I've ever played most playable. Figuring out different paths to chase all these awards makes for some seriously awesome gameplay. Seemingly insignificant decisions will affect how the rest of the game is played, and randomly generated content will keep things fresh even if you play the same way. No other download of RPG games comes close.

Graphics

Well, look at all the beautiful colors!

Installation

The game is designed to run on a DOS platform, so DOSBox is a necessity. If you need help configuring it, the DOSBox wiki has a page specifically for you. I tell you, no other PC RPG games are worth the effort.

Get the game for free from the Virtua School website. Just download it to a directory you remember, run the DOSBox, mount the directory and run Virtua! After playing it for a while, you can check out the Virtua School website to see what achievements you can still take, and maybe even discover the hidden ones.
